                 HEALTH & CARE

Affectionately known as “Little Cuties,” Shih Tzus are cherished for their loving temperament, loyalty, and charming personalities. Despite their small stature, misconceptions about the breed still exist. Our puppies are carefully raised around children and other pets, making them gentle, confident, and well-adjusted companions.

A common myth is that small dogs require minimal care. In reality, Shih Tzus demand consistent attention, grooming, training, and healthcare. We invest significant time and effort in giving our puppies the best possible start in life and trust that you will continue providing the same level of dedication and love.

Vaccination & Health Records:

All our Shih Tzu puppies are fully vaccinated and up to date, including core vaccinations and booster shots appropriate for their age. Each puppy is also regularly dewormed and will be sent to their new home with complete health and vaccination documentation for transparency and peace of mind.

Feeding & Nutrition:

Proper nutrition is essential for a Shih Tzu’s healthy development. Puppies should be fed high-quality puppy food formulated for small breeds. Controlled protein levels (not exceeding 25%) are recommended during the rapid growth phase between 2–8 months to reduce the risk of bone and joint issues later in life.

Natural calcium from food sources is beneficial, but calcium supplements should not be given unless prescribed by a veterinarian. Vitamin C and other essential nutrients help support immune health and overall growth. Always consult your vet before making dietary changes.

Living Space & Environment:

While Shih Tzus adapt well to apartment living, they still need adequate space to move freely and safely. A tidy environment helps prevent injuries. If you have a yard, ensure fencing is secure, as Shih Tzus can be more agile than expected.

Due to their sensitivity to cold and heat, Shih Tzus should live indoors and not be left outside overnight or in extreme weather conditions.

Training & Socialization:

Early training and socialization are crucial. Although their appearance may initially intimidate some people, Shih Tzus are naturally friendly, affectionate, and gentle. Without proper training, however, any dog can develop unwanted behaviors.

Our puppies are introduced early to children, adults, and other dog breeds, helping them grow into confident, well-mannered pets that do not jump or behave aggressively.

Exercise & Activity:

Despite their small size, Shih Tzus require regular daily exercise to maintain healthy joints, muscles, and mental stimulation. Two walks per day, along with indoor playtime, are ideal. Consistent exercise helps prevent obesity and supports long-term joint health.

Grooming & Hygiene:

Shih Tzus have a luxurious coat that requires regular grooming. They generally enjoy water, making bath time manageable when introduced gently. Routine brushing, bathing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and dental care are essential to keep them healthy and comfortable.

Temperament & Companionship:

Shih Tzus thrive on companionship and form strong bonds with their families. They are affectionate, alert, and enjoy being involved in daily activities. They do not do well when left alone for long periods and are best suited for homes where they receive regular interaction and attention.
